Privacy Policy for HabitForge

We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how HabitForge ("we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use our mobile application ("the App").

1. General Information

We designed HabitForge with privacy in mind. Your habit data is stored securely and locally on your device. We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email, or contact details.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require you to create an account.
  • We do not collect or store your personal habits, progress, or notes on our servers. It is stored locally on your device.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with third parties.
  • We do not display advertising.
  • All habit-related data stays offline on your device and is encrypted at rest.

3. Data We May Collect

While we do not collect habit data or personal identifiers, the following limited technical data may be collected to help us improve the App:

3.1 Crash Reports & App Diagnostics

We use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) to collect anonymous crash reports and error logs to help us improve app stability and reliability. These reports may include information such as:

  • Device model, operating system version
  • App version and configuration
  • Time of error or crash
  • Anonymous installation identifier
  • Recent app logs for debugging context (may include habit data but no user identifiers)

Important: While crash reports may include recent app logs that contain habit data, this information is completely anonymous and cannot be linked to any specific user. We have no way to identify individual users from this data, and it is used solely to improve the stability and reliability of the App.

3.2 Subscription Management (RevenueCat)

We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat acts as a data processor and receives transaction information from Apple App Store or Google Play (e.g., product purchased, subscription status, purchase history) to enable premium features. RevenueCat does not receive your habit data or any personal information beyond what is necessary for subscription management.

RevenueCat is GDPR compliant and retains personal data during the period of your subscription and for up to six years thereafter to address any issues or legal proceedings.

3.3 App Infrastructure (Expo)

Our app is built using Expo, which may collect certain technical information for app updates and development purposes. This includes app version information and update status. Expo does not receive your habit data or personal information.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your information with third parties except:

  • To the extent necessary to provide subscription processing (via Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and RevenueCat)
  • To collect crash/error diagnostics via Sentry as described above
  • When required by law

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have rights regarding your data, including:

  • The right to know what data is collected
  • The right to withdraw consent for crash reporting (note: crash logs are anonymous and cannot be individually identified or deleted)
  • The right to opt out of analytics data collection

Please note that Sentry crash logs are collected anonymously and cannot be individually identified or deleted upon request.

6. Data Security

  • Habit data is stored locally in a secure, encrypted database on your device using SQLCipher encryption.
  • All database files are encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.
  • We take reasonable measures to protect any technical data collected (such as crash logs).
  • No habit data is transmitted to our servers or any third-party services except as described in the crash reporting section above.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
